Overview

As the Product Designer for Trips Africa, I worked closely with engineers, product managers, and customer service teams to elevate a platform that simplifies travel by connecting airlines, bus operators, and payment providers. Integrated into all major banking applications in Nigeria and Kenya, Trips makes travel accessible for everyone, anywhere.

Faced with low conversions and high drop-offs during flight searches, I conducted a detailed UX audit, identifying key design issues. By addressing these through a redesigned experience, we increased the flight search-to-reservation rate by 35%, creating a smoother, more user-friendly platform.

The problem

Non-intuitive design was driving low bookings.

UX audit to identify pain points

UX audit to identify pain points

To address the challenges of low conversions and a lengthy booking process, we performed a comprehensive UX audit to identify user pain points in the travel booking experience. Through in-depth user research, we gained insights into the specific issues affecting usability.

We then redesigned the platform with a focus on intuitive navigation and streamlined booking flows, ensuring users can easily find and reserve their travel options. By incorporating user feedback and iterative testing, we created a more engaging and efficient platform that transforms travel planning into a seamless experience

A Journey of Iteration

Our design process for Trips Africa was iterative and responsive, guided by user feedback and extensive testing. Initial insights highlighted key pain points in the booking experience, prompting us to refine both the web and mobile interfaces.

Through A/B testing and data analysis, we made targeted adjustments to streamline navigation and reduce friction in the booking flow. By addressing user concerns and optimizing for edge cases, we developed a platform that effectively enhances the travel planning experience and meets the evolving needs of our customers.
